Frederick García Lorca’s final play explores themes of unreciprocated love, tradition, contained desire, and envy. The play takes place in a small village in southern Spain following the funeral of Bernarda Alba's second husband. After the mourners depart, Bernarda’s obsession with family honor results in her daughters’ small revolts. When the truth is revealed, the consequences are tragic.
